Merry Christmas

Oh what a day! I am so tired. I am going to start waking up the kids at 2 a.m. instead of going to bed at that time and then being woken up at 5 am. I just can't function that early! Oh it was a blast at our house though...it snowed all night... none of it stuck on the ground though. Kurt made breakfast, eggs and country potatoes with toast. And then the kids were back and forth all day from here to the neighbors house. We crashed their house at about 6:30 to bring their gifts...I was giong to make them go a little earlier, but Kurt was afraid they weren't awake? anywhoo, there was lots of lounging, and lots of treats, and good food. We ate with our neighbors at their house. We both made prime ribs, shared salads and potatoes and pies. Then watched a movie while the kids played. Kurt and Ellie fell asleep of course - both are cursed with the Evans tradition of falling asleep when the dvd player comes on. Then it was time for bed and Charley loved it because she wore her Ariel jammies to bed last night, all day today, and now is asleep in bed in her favorite nightgown EVER! She had a bath and put them on again, so she now is obsessed with her pj's. Crazy kid.
some of what they got this year -

Jackson- PSP games, PS2 games, new airsoft gun with ammo, BYU sweatshirts, and the NEW D Will shoes...oh you should have seen his face!

Emma - MP3 player, i-home Stereo, CD's, lots of clothes, jewelry, hair stuff, a puppy in a purse, and littlest pet shop toys. - she is in heaven.

Ellie - (who is the hardest one to shop for just so you know) Chuck taylors, skateboard, some new pants, A new leapster didj, and 2 didj games. She hasn't stopped playing with the didj in her new shoes and pants on her skate board all day....its a good day.

Charley - Ariel movie, Ariel toys, Ariel leapster cartridge, horse and carriage, dora and horse set, hair stuff, and tea set! She absolutely loves her stuff - she was a little overloaded this morning...not really sure what to do or say...she just looked around with her big green eyes bulging out at all the treasures!! She loves her gifts!!

Kurt - (we didn't do much for eachother) Some tools for the shop, and a shirt

Michelle - money and washclothes (ok, the washclothes I got for myself from him because I wasn't sure if there would be any physical gift under the tree and I didn't want the kids to think that mothers don't get presents, but he came through in the end! he always does!)

Thanks grandmas and grandpas for the awesome gifts!!! We are soooo BLESSED to have such great people in our kids lives. I am extremely grateful for the thoughtfulness of each gift and extremely grateful that you go through so much to get them here for our kids. They don't know how good they have it!

We wish you all a MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

xoxo- Kurt and Michelle

some snow pictures

I know the kids loved loved loved the snow for the 2 days it lasted. It is raining today, and finishing off the snowman. He lived a good life. The snowoman jackson built is still standing tall - representing true life - men melt and women weather the storm. :)

Holiday Party

So Kurt got his holiday wish early this year...he was invited, or invited himself, to sing at the company party...
He ended up singing with a co-worker who also sings country and writes his own songs. They both did very well, but Kurt had them laughing with a company version of 'the workin elf blues'. Everyone really enjoyed themselves- at others expense, but it was funny. There were the silly songs, and the heart felt songs alike. Good times. It was fun to watch Kurt like the old days singing while people eat like he did at Mountain Springs. It was a good party!!

Yes, I am blogging two times in one day... so sue me.

I have been in a huge Faith Hill mood lately probably because I love her 'where are you christmas?' song from the Grinch movie - which I loaded onto the playlist only to discover that its not even that song! So I loaded up more Faith Hill songs, and discovered 'Shadows' and 'A baby changes everything' and now I love BOTH of these songs. First Shadows...who doesn't want to have someone trust them completely and show their shadows to you...seriously, what trust that would take. Do I do that? Not hardly! or should I say, not often enough.
When I first heard 'A baby changes everything' I wasn't listening real closely to the lyrics, and I was just kinda going about my day when I started relating to the song... only in a few ways about how it changes everything and she had to go away and how she knew the baby was coming because there wasn't any more room. I love the message because it can relate to modern times, as well as the birth of Jesus. Listen to it, its a good song. I love the part where it says 'and she cried' because I cried for 2 months straight when I found out how a baby changes everything.

Also feeling a little lonely and missing my mommy so I have been on a Carpenters kick as well. My mom is a constant reminder of that 70's style sunshine (not that she is a hippie) the type you see in old photographs...just free to love and be loved back. She is just an all around loving person... and somedays I miss having her warm arms around my neck and whispering things in my ear that make me tear up.

I listed the killers because I just love the killers. love them. If they come to vegas, I am sleeping out in a lawn chair to get tickets. And I will turn tricks to pay for the tickets! haha. kidding.

LET IT SNOW LET IT SNOW LET IT SNOW!

SCHOOL IS CANCELLED!

Talk about a kids dream come true. We have had the most snow ever! Well, I don' know what the record is officially, but I know it hasn't cancelled school before! The kids are hoping that they don't have to go back tomorrow since there is only one day before Christmas break! Kinda funny! I should take a picture of their snow man, but it went belly up last night due to all the heavy snow!

so, let it snow!
